MOSCOW CONTINUES SUPPORT FOR BELGRADE.

A senior Russian diplomat warned on December 5 that Russia would consider using its veto in the UN Security Council if the West pushes for a reimposition of sanctions on Belgrade. That same sentiment was echoed a day later when Foreign Minister Yevgeny Primakov repeated Russian accusations that the international community is biased against the Serbs. (Interfax, December 5; Itar-Tass, December 6) At the recent OSCE Summit in Lisbon Russia managed to scuttle inclusion in the Summit’s final declaration of a critical assessment of the Serbian government.
