NEW PARTY WILL OPPOSE TERRITORIAL TRANSFER.

A new party has been set up in Russia’s Far Eastern Primorsky krai to oppose the transfer of any of the krai’s territory to China. Under an agreement signed in May 1991, the Soviet Union regulated almost all its existing border disputes with China. The treaty calls for several hundred hectares of land currently belonging to Primorsky krai to be transferred to China. Krai governor Yevgeny Nazdratenko has long opposed the transfer, and Aleksandr Lebed’s Russian Popular Republican party has reportedly promised its support to the new party.
