NEW RUSSIAN COMMANDER IN MOLDOVA WANTS REINFORCEMENTS.

The14th Army’s new commander, Maj. Gen. Valeri Yevnevich, toldKishinevskie novosti June 24 that he plans to bringreinforcements from Russia to guard the army’s ammunitiondumps. And Soldat otechestva reported June 17 that more than1,000 new servicemen had already arrived. Yevnevich wassupposedly appointed to reduce the size of the Russianmilitary units in Moldova’s Transdniestr region. In othercomments, the new commander called for joint Moldovan-Russian construction of special facilities to destroy the14th Army’s large supplies of weapons and ammunition.
