NTV CORRESPONDENT BANNED FROM TAJIKISTAN.

Publication: Monitor Volume: 4 Issue: 144

The government of Tajikistan yesterday withdrew the accreditation of Yelena Masyuk, correspondent of the Moscow-based NTV (Independent Television), and declared her persona non grata. The government threatened to close down NTV’s Dushanbe bureau if the company contests the decision. Official Dushanbe objected to the tenor of Masyuk’s recent series of reports from Tajikistan. Masyuk is familiar with the country and has distinguished herself in covering the civil war. (Russian agencies, July 27)
