PATRIARCH SECONDS THE MOTION.

In an Easter interview, published in "Russia is Our Home"’s supplement to the governmental daily, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russias Aleksy II praised the formation of the Russia-Belarus SSR and appealed to CIS member countries to "follow this good example in restoring the full-blooded ties between all the peoples on what used to be the common expanse." (Rossiiskaya gazeta, April 13). Aleksy had joined Presidents Boris Yeltsin and Aleksandr Lukashenko to bestow the Orthodox Church’s blessing on the creation of the Russia-Belarus SSR in a ceremony with both Soviet and religious overtones.
