Russian foreign minister Yevgeny Primakov departed yesterday on an official Asian trip that will take him to South Korea, Malaysia, and Thailand. In Seoul, Primakov is to meet with South Korea’s president and foreign minister, and the two sides are expected to issue a joint communique on resolving tensions on the Korean peninsula. In Kuala Lumpur Primakov will participate along with other dialogue partners in a series of meetings of ASEAN — the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. He is also to meet there bilaterally with his counterparts from the U.S., Japan, and China. (Russian agencies, July 23)
