RUSSIAN-ARMENIAN MILITARY EXERCISE UNDERWAY.

Russian and Armenian troops began yesterday a joint combat exercise at regimental level. It is being held at the Marshal Baghramian training range and surrounding area in Armavir county under the joint command of Lieutenant-General Nikolai Andreyev, commander of the Russian Group of Forces in the Transcaucasus, and Armenia’s Deputy Defense Minister, Lieutenant-General Mkrtich Abrahamian. The two-stage exercise is designed to practice joint operations in mountain warfare. It involves a defensive operation followed by a counteroffensive against a would-be invader (Noyan-Tapan, Azg, Russian agencies, September 22, 23).
