RUSSIAN-U.S. PLANE UNVEILED.

On April 27 Prime Minister Viktor Chernomyrdin traveled to Voronezh to unveil the first Il-96T cargo plane, built by Ilyushin with engines from the U.S. company Pratt & Whitney. (Reuter, April 27) Aeroflot is to take delivery of the plane in September, and a passenger version should be ready in 1998. Aeroflot will take delivery of 20 of the craft over the next four years, in a $1.5 billion deal funded in part by the U.S. Exim Bank and set up through the Gore-Chernomyrdin commission.
