Publication: Monitor Volume: 2 Issue: 20

Ukrainian economic overtures to Iran, mainly in search of a future oil supplier, have begun to pay off in other ways: the Motor-Sich plant in Zaporizha recently won an international tender to build passenger aircraft for Iran. The contract’s estimated value is $4 billion. Other competitors in the bid were Saab of Sweden and Russia’s Ilyushin plant. Ukraine will supply technology and training to build the new Antonov-140 short-distance plane at a plant to be located in Esfahan, Iran. (19)
