SHIPYARD WORKERS UNPAID DESPITE COURT ORDER.
Publication: Monitor Volume: 2 Issue: 226
The workers at the Kronshtadt shipyards, near St. Petersburg, have found that winning a court case to receive their unpaid wages is one thing–getting their employer to pay the 4 month’s salaries owed is another. The shipyard, the principle repair yard for the Baltic Fleet, is owed 54 billion rubles by the Defense Ministry and has had to cut its work force from 7,000 to 3,200. The workers say they will strike if not paid. (Itar-Tass, December 3)
