TRANSDNIESTER CONFLICT MANAGEMENT ENTRUSTED TO ADAMISHIN.

Publication: Monitor Volume: 3 Issue: 217

Russian president Boris Yeltsin’s foreign policy coordinator and chief spokesman, Sergei Yastrzhembsky, announced yesterday that CIS Cooperation Minister Anatoly Adamishin has been assigned to oversee and "coordinate" Russia’s policy on the Transdniester conflict. (Russian agencies, November 18) Yeltsin and Moldovan president Petru Lucinschi had discussed Adamishin’s assignment to this role at last month’s CIS summit in Chisinau. The decision implicitly divests Russia’s Foreign Ministry of the "coordinating" function it has performed from 1992 to date.
