Publication: Monitor Volume: 3 Issue: 48

David Obey of Wisconsin described the alliance’s expansion as an "historically arrogant decision which we will come to regret." A Republican congressman, Ralph Regula of Ohio, also expressed skepticism about NATO’s enlargement plans and called instead for the European Union to take in new members first. (Reuter, March 6)
