Publication: Monitor Volume: 2 Issue: 65

An annual report published by the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative released April 1 identified Russian debts of $220 million to American companies and high Russian import duties as the greatest impediments to increased bilateral trade. The report also pointed to problems in standardization, trademarks, and the certification of U.S. goods as additional problems. It said that copyrights on U.S. products were still being violated in the reproduction of video cassettes, films, music, books, and computer software. (Itar-Tass, April 2)
