The Hetman Sahaydachny, one of Ukraine’s main warships, participates in the Cooperative Partner 95 naval exercises, scheduled for September 11-16 in the Black Sea under NATO’s Partnership for Peace program. Also on September 11 and also as part of PfP, a reinforced Ukrainian marine company flew to the US state of North Carolina to participate in the US-Ukrainian exercise Autumn Allies 95, Ukraine’s Defense Ministry announced. Scheduled through September 25 as a follow-up to the US-Ukrainian exercise in July near Mykolaiv in Ukraine, the North Carolina exercise will focus on joint peacekeeping operations, patrolling a zone of conflict, and practice firing. The first deputy naval commander, Rear Admiral Mykola Kostriv, commands the Ukrainian contingent. (13)
