Foreign economic relationsminister Oleg Davydov said that Washington has complained frequently over thelast three months about Russian theft of American intellectual propertyincluding audio and video cassettes and computer programs, Segodnya reportedMay 13. Judging from the minister’s comments, however, this issue–which theAmerican side said involved more than $800 million dollars in losses lastyear–was not raised at the Clinton-Yeltsin summit. But some Russians areangry that it has been raised at all: One senior foreign trade official saidthat Americans were pirating Russian software.
