U.S. president Bill Clinton, responding to a question on whether a Communist victory in Russian’s presidential election would be a "disaster," said yesterday that Washington has a "good positive relationship" with Yeltsin but that it would deal with whatever decision the Russian people make. He applauded the fact that Russia, with its authoritarian past, is conducting an election. (Reuter, June 13)
