YELTSIN APPROVES SECURITY AGENCY PLAN FOR LINKS WITH CISCOUNTRIES.

Boris Yeltsin gave his approval to a Federal Security Serviceplan to sign a variety of agreements with the special services of otherCommonwealth countries, Krasnaya zvezda reported May 24. The paper didnot say what these agreements would consist of, or how many of the 11 othermember states would be willing to sign agreements with Moscow on this score. The extent to which the special services in other CIS states may beactive was suggested by a reported in the May 23 Komsomolskaya pravda. Thepaper said that a Ukrainian supreme soviet deputy had charged Kiev’s secretservices with extensive wiretapping of the phones of senior officials.
