TAJIK OFFICER DRUG-DEALING IN UZBEKISTAN.

Publication: Monitor Volume: 3 Issue: 140

Uzbek police yesterday arrested in Tashkent region a Tajik captain of the Dushanbe city police who was carrying two kilograms of heroin. (Russian agencies, July 17) Last month, Kazakhstani police in Almaty caught the Tajik embassy’s driver in the act of carrying a large consignment of heroin in the embassy car. (See Monitor, June 27) Moscow often justifies its support for the Dushanbe government by claiming that the latter helps combat drug trafficking.
