U.S. RECALLS MINSK AMBASSADOR FOR CONSULTATIONS.

In a step reflecting extreme displeasure with a foreign government, the U.S. State Department yesterday summoned its ambassador to Belarus, Kenneth Yalowitz, to Washington for consultations. The consultations will focus on further responses to the Belarusan government’s violations of diplomatic norms and human rights. (Western agencies, March 25-26) The Minsk regime on March 24 expelled the U.S. embassy’s first secretary on charges of being a CIA agent and of allegedly instigating the previous day’s mass demonstration by the opposition.
