Hasan Selim Özertem
Dr. Hasan Selim Özertem is an Ankara-based political analyst. He received his B.S. in Economics from Middle East Technical University, where he also completed his M.A. in Eurasian Studies. He earned his Ph.D. in political science from Bilkent University. Between 2006 and 2016, he worked as a researcher for an Ankara-based think tank, International Strategic Research Organization (USAK). Additionally, he worked on several projects with the United Nations, the Turkish Ministry of Interior, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and BP. He was a visiting scholar at the Carnegie Moscow Center from April to July 2013. Hasan Selim Özertem has contributed to national newspapers and journals such as Hurriyet Daily News, Radikal, Sabah, and Star and has appeared on several Turkish and international media platforms such as CNN International, BBC, Al-Jazeera, The New York Times, Washington Post, Financial Times, Kommersant, NTV, TRT, and CNN TURK. He is a member of Valdai International Discussion Club and fellow of Mercator Stiftung’s Turkey-Europe Future Forum. His research interests include security, political economy, energy, elite politics, Eurasia, Russia and Türkiye.
