Militant Leadership Monitor – April 2025

The March 2025 issue of Militant Leadership Monitor starts off with a look at Anas Abdulrahman, an ethnic Malay Muslim militant leader in Thailand who has failed to convince his compatriots to follow through with a ceasefire with the government. Following the brief, there is an examination of Naim Qassem, Hezbollah’s newest Secretary-General. In the next article, the publication considers Abdul Haq Wasiq, the Taliban’s intelligence chief and a former Guantanamo detainee who has gone on to negotiate with the United States and collaborate with Washington in the fight against Islamic State–Khorasan Province. The publication ends with an account of Manesa Tabuni, chairman of United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) and one of several rival leaders in the West Papuan independence movement.
