The August 2024 issue of Militant Leadership Monitor starts off with a look at Joan Lacio “Mark” Encancion and Jolina “Chloe” Martinez Sergio, two militants in the New People’s Army in the Philippines. Following the brief, there is an examination of Mir Bangulzai, a Baloch insurgent who has become a key figure in reconciling the disparate Baloch militant groups. In the next article, the publication considers the legacy of Raed al-Karmi, a leader in the Second Intifada who is the inspiration behind a new “Rapid Response Battalion” in the West Bank , some 20 years after his death. The publication ends with an account of Abu Bakar Kogoya, a deceased guerilla fighter with the West Papua National Liberation Army–Free Papua Movement.
